The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey, has commenced a comprehensive inspection of lecture theatres, classroom blocks and other academic facilities across the University to monitor the resumption of academic activities following the suspension of the ASUU strike.
The inspection tour, which took the Vice Chancellor to various faculties and academic units, was aimed at assessing the level of compliance with the University's directive on the immediate resumption of teaching and learning.

Accompanied by members of the University's management, Prof. Bassey visited the new Faculty of Education building, the newly constructed Science Blocks and the University's new cafeteria, where she interacted with lecturers and students during lectures and received firsthand reports on the progress of academic activities.

The Vice Chancellor also inspected the Postgraduate School, where she was received by the Dean, Prof. Emmanuel Obi, and the Director of Administration, Mrs. Saraya Ofem. During the visit, she toured offices, the conference hall, the ICT unit and monitored the ongoing postgraduate examinations.

Speaking with the University Media Team after the inspection, Prof. Bassey expressed concern over the slow pace of the full resumption of academic activities in some parts of the University. She urged students to attend lectures regularly and called on academic staff to intensify teaching efforts to ensure that the academic calendar remains on course and that students recover lost time.
She reaffirmed the University's commitment to maintaining academic standards and disclosed that the monitoring exercise would continue until normal academic activities are fully restored across all campuses.

The Vice Chancellor was accompanied on the inspection by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Stella-Maris Okey; the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Thomas Ojikpong; the Acting Dean of Students' Affairs, Dr. Victor Ndifon; and the Chief Security Officer, Superintendent Iwara Ibiang.
