The Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has approved the constitution of a Technical Committee to undertake a comprehensive review of the working environment at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), as earlier promised about two months ago to a delegation of Council and management led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Francisca Bassey.
This is part of his ongoing efforts to further strengthen the institution and enhance its capacity for excellence.
The development was announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Cross River State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, who disclosed that the committee will be chaired by Prof. Uduak Effiong, a distinguished academic and former Director of Academic Planning as well as former Dean of Students' Affairs of the University.
The initiative underscores the State Government's sustained commitment to supporting the growth and transformation of UNICROSS, while consolidating the gains already recorded under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey.
The committee is expected to engage relevant stakeholders and assess critical aspects of the University's working environment with a view to making recommendations that will further improve institutional effectiveness, staff welfare, academic productivity, and overall governance.
The constitution of the 7-member Technical Committee reflects the administration's determination to position UNICROSS as a leading centre of learning, research, and innovation, capable of meeting contemporary educational demands and contributing meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Cross River State and Nigeria at large.
Details of the committee's membership and terms of reference are contained in this official statement.
