Prof. STEPHEN NCHA OCHANG

Prof. STEPHEN NCHA OCHANG is an erudite Scholar, Researcher, Professor of Aquaculture and Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Cross River State( UNICROSS).

His special area of research interest is Fish Nutrition where he has several publications in reputable journals, both locally and internationally.

Prof. Stephen Ochang, was born on 15th June, 1959 and hails from, Oku Aro Village in Boki LGA of Cross River State.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), in Zoology, from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Oyo State, in 1986; Masters of Science (M.Sc), in Fisheries and Aquaculture, from the University of Calabar, in 1997; and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD),in Fisheries Aquaculture, from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, in 2007.

He served as a Lecturer at the Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture, Ovonum-Obubra LGA, Cross River State, from 1994- 2002. He has been of the faculty of the University of Cross River State from the inception in
2002. He grew through the ranks and became Professor in 2016.
He has served in many capacities in the university system including: Head of Department, Fisheries & Aquatic Science, 2011- 2013; Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, Cross River University of Technology (ASUU-CRUTECH) Chapter, 2014-2016; University Orator, Cross River University of Technology Calabar, 2016- Date; Dean of Faculty & Head of Campus, Faculty of Management Sciences, Ogoja; Campus, 2019-2020; Member, Cross River University of Technology Governing Council, 2019-Date; Dean of Faculty & Head of Campus, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, Obubra Campus, 2021-2023; Head of Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, University of Calabar, December, 2023- May, 2024.
Prof. Ochang, is a recipient of the Federal Government Scholarship in 2003 & Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Research Grant in 2007.

He was appointed Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Cross River State( UNICROSS), by the Governing Council of the University on Monday, May 6th, 2024.

Prof. Ochang, is an ordained Minister of the gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ who gave his life to Christ in 1982 when he was in Secondary School and has maintained an unbroken relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ these past forty two years.

Prof. Stephen Ochang, is happily married and blessed with children.
