About SIWES

The Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) is a skills training programme designed to expose and prepare students for the industrial work situation, they are likely to meet after graduation. It is the duty of SIWES Directorate to mobilise students for the six months industrials training. The training take place in second semester and during the long vacation. At the SIWES office we organize regular orientation programme in collaboration with the ITF Zonal Office, Calabar for both departmental IT coordinators and students, we prepare master and placement lists of IT students for processing by the NUC and ITF Headquarters, prepare schedule and ensure the visitation of staff on supervision to students on attachment assigned to them, attend to staff and students with difficulties during IT attachment, attendance quarterly Zonal SIWES Directors/Coordinators’ meetings, ensure students return their log-books and forms 8 for onward submission to ITF Zonal Area Office, Calabar, fostering closer links between the University and industries and other related issues.
